Silent Walk for Women – Pine Grove Furnace State Park August 31st at 9:00 AM

Gestalt Gettysburg invites you to join us for a Silent Walk for Women in the serene setting of Pine Grove Furnace State Park. This experiential gathering is designed exclusively for women—because we understand that walking alone in nature can sometimes bring justifiable concerns around safety. By walking together, we create a space of independent togetherness, where each woman moves at her own pace while knowing she is surrounded by the safety and strength of a group.

Why Silence?

This walk will be done in silence to encourage the practice of forest bathing—a Japanese-inspired wellness approach that immerses us in the sights, sounds, and sensations of the forest. By quieting conversation, we allow ourselves to fully tune into our senses, noticing the rhythm of our breath, the texture of the earth beneath our feet, the song of the birds, and the shifting play of light through the trees.

Silent walking brings us into somatic awareness, helping the body regulate and reset. It lowers stress, eases anxiety, and reconnects us to nature’s grounding energy. This embodied sensory connection is especially powerful in a group, where the shared silence amplifies the sense of presence and belonging.

The Walk Experience

We will hike a gentle loop trail (low to medium difficulty) for about an hour. The loop itself holds special meaning within the Gestalt process—a cycle that invites us to begin, immerse, and complete an experience fully. As we close the loop on our path, we also honor the closing of a cycle within ourselves, bringing awareness to what the walk opened for us.

When the hike concludes, we will break the silence and gather for an optional group discussion. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to share your reflections—what emerged individually, and what was felt collectively.

Why This Matters for Women

This Silent Walk creates space for women to experience safety, empowerment, and connection. It is an opportunity to feel the strength of walking independently while being supported in community, and to nurture both autonomy and belonging.
